The work on this site is mine: the leatherwork and other builds, the photographs, the research, the build journals, and the articles. None of it is written or generated by AI, and there are no AI-generated images here.
What AI does here
I use an AI assistant (Anthropic’s Claude) to manage the site, the way you’d hire someone to keep the shop’s books so you can stay at the bench. That means building and arranging pages, layout and styling, small bits of code like the rotating photos on the front page, organizing the media library, fixing broken links, and compiling the citation list on Published Work.
The one gray area is the connective text: photo captions, alt text for screen readers, and the short summaries at the top of collection pages. Those are drafted with AI from my own notes on each piece (materials, methods, what’s in the photo), and I review them. When it gets something wrong, I fix it.
What it doesn’t do
It doesn’t write my articles or build journals, make images, invent details about the work, or speak for me. If you’re reading a write-up of how something was made, I wrote it.
